Remarkably Bright Creatures - Netflix Original 2026

Synopsis: Through unlikely bonds formed during night shifts at a local aquarium, Tova, an elderly widow, learns of a life-changing discovery that may bring her joy and wonder once again.

I will admit watching the trailer for this movie I was intrigued but was not sure if I wanted to rush to watch it. I am so very glad I did. 

Immediately there is interesting narration and you quickly fall in love with Sally Fields character, Tova. She is an adorable lady with a great personality. There is no way to forget about Marcellus, the large octopus friend, voiced beautifully by Alfred Molina. And the introduction of Cameron, played by Lewis Pullman, added an extra layer to the story in many aspects. 

The storyline is simple, yet surprisingly funny and with so much heart. You feel for each character on a deep level and can not help but root for them as each goes on their journey. 

The cinemotographay is beautiful as well as the creature design. The aquriam where most of the movie is shot, I found out later is a real place, and I will most definitely being finding a way to visit it. The placement of it right by the water and the cute little town is just a must see.  

Final Thoughts

Overall it is a brillant little town advenutre. Towards the end it is slightly predictable but still a great wholesome movie for anyone over 12. I only say that as little kids will lose interest in all the talking. Will definitely be reading the book. 

Score: 7.5 out of 10. Definitely a rewatch.

The voice actors did a great job at continuing their growth and embodying their characters very well. Dealing with the aftermath of season 2 there is a lot of talking and as my hubby pointed out, a lot of teen angst, even though I'm pretty sure the characters are supposed to be in their early twenties. I did defend them on this front as the situations they were dealing with would throw off people much older. Just keep in mind a lot of talking. The main character of Arthur is played beautifully by James McAvoy and while the rest of the star-studded cast brought theirs to life with ease, I can not praise James enough. The childlike wonder in Arthur makes you easily root for him and James encapsulates his character perfectly.  Within the first few minutes of the movie, you get a complete sense of who each character is and how they interact with each other.
