The Electric State - 2025 - Netflix Original

Synopsis: After a war between humans and machines, robots lost their freedom, people lost themselves in tech, and Michelle lost everyone she loved - or did she?

Hearing about this movie I was very intrigued to see where it would go. The answer all over the place. 

Right off the bat, the movie is visually beautiful and the fight sequences between everyone is just amazing. 

Props to human characters played by Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, Ke Huy Quan, Stanley Tucci and Giancarlo Esposito. Each one brought their character to life in a very real way and performed perfectly against so much CGI. And while the characters were likeable, well the ones you were supposed to like, and you were cheering for the good guys, they could not help the writing or the storyline from crashing out in the final act.

Without spoilers it is hard to discuss the storyline in more detail, but I will say that the storyline was very strange and the execution more so. The finale was both a disappointment and predictable in an eye roll type way. 

Final Thoughts

I will say it is worth watching, though it would be up to the individual as to how many times they would want to. For me this was a good ride but only a one time watch. I have a feeling there may be sequel but I’m not sure where they could take it from here. The robots and fight scenes are awesome. 

Score: 7 out of 10. Watchable once but probably won’t watch again.

The Princess 2022 - Hulu Original

Synopsis:  When a strong-willed princess refuses to wed a cruel sociopath, she is kidnapped and locked in a remote tower. With her scorned, vindictive suitor intent on taking her father's throne, the princess must protect her family and save the kingdom. Straight out of the gate this princess is not one to be messed with. I found myself rooting for her right from the opening scenes. Joey King, as The Princess, really just brought her game and crushed this movie. I felt for her character on so many levels and you really do just want to cheer her on the entire movie. Synopsis:   A reclusive romance novelist on a book tour with her cover model gets swept up in a kidnapping attempt that lands them both in a cutthroat jungle adventure. I'm both a published author and a huge movie lover so this movie, immediately when I saw the trailer spoke to me on many levels. I got reminded of other authors going on adventures like Nim's Island and Romancing the Stone. Needless to say, I had high hopes.
