Thor: Love and Thunder - 2022

Synopsis: Thor enlists the help of Valkyrie, Korg, and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster to fight Gorr the God Butcher, who intends to make the gods extinct.

Right off the bat, this movie shows that it means business. Backstory on 'villains' is usually hit or miss but in this case, I kinda need to be on Bale's side. The heartbreak and revelation would crush anyone and honestly, I don't blame him for his initial decision. 

I personally love Christian Bale yet at times his character came across as just creepy and not really scary or much of a threat. Although the fights were pretty cool. 

The creature design is excellent from what we get to see. Personally, I wish we could see a lot more of them. 

The Jane storyline was a little mixed up and not really necessary for the movie in my opinion. Yet I appreciate seeing the female Thor and kinda wish they had made it a separate movie. I'm not sure if they had enough material to do so and that's why they chose to combine the two. 

The first part of the final act really let down the movie as evident to the target audience. This was not a fight for adults but for every kid living a dream of being a superhero. This was made even more clear as my 13-year-old son loved it and my husband did not. Personally, the last act made up for me the ridiculous start. 

Final Thoughts

Honestly, this one wasn't as bad as I had heard. It had its moments of ridiculousness, don't get me wrong. But if you take them for what they are, then it is easy to overlook them. 

Will this win any awards? Probably not. 

Is it a mindless good time with cool monsters? Yes. 

If you watch the movie and just go with it, it's a good time. Don't come looking for anything under the surface. There isn't anything.

6 out of 10. Recommend for Thor fans, but the weakest in the MCU as a whole in my opinion.

Cabinet of Curiosities - 2022 Netflix Original

  Genre:  Drama, Horror, Mystery Rating:  TV-MA Synopsis:  Bizarre nightmares unfold in eight tales of terror in a visually stunning, spine-tingling horror collection curated by Guillermo del Toro. As a huge fan of Guillermo del Toro, I had high hopes for this. The opening is visually stunning and the music reminds me of the nightmare before Christmas.  There are some huge stars present and regardless of the story, I personally think everyone did an incredible job showing each character. The problem with a collection of short stories, such as this, is you run into a time problem. Some stories did not get enough time, while others wasted time on things that did not progress fast enough for the time allotted.  Here is a quick breakdown of my thoughts for each episode.  Lot 36 - A very slow start and quick end. Lots of build up very little reward, but the monster was cool. 6 out of 10. Graveyard Rats - Very cool visuals, great story, and straight to the point. Great creature design. 8

Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous - Season 5 - Netflix Original

Genre: Animation, Action, Adventure, Family, Science Fiction Rating: TV PG Synopsis: Teens attending an adventure camp on the opposite side of Isla Nublar must band together to survive when dinosaurs wreak havoc on the island. Previous seasons do need to be watched to understand the relationships between the group and what they've been through so far.  If you've seen the Jurassic World movies, including the most recent it will add some missing details but it's not necessary to watch them before.  I would recommend watching the Jurassic World Dominion movie before the last episode so that some revelations during the show will make sense and will avoid spoilers if you haven't seen the movie.  Season 5 is the last season so it had high expectations to finish with a bang and wrap up any loose ends. With a total of  12 episodes, this time around I did think it was the perfect amount, with the exception of Episode 5 which I thought was pretty much a filler.  Worse: Episode
