Stranger Things Season 2 - Netflix Original Series
Genre: Fantasy, Drama, Horror, Science Fiction,
Rating: TV 14
Synopsis: Reeling from his experience in the Upside Down, Will adjusts to life among the living. While everyone else in town prepares for Halloween and something sinister is growing.
Immediately we are thrown back into the weird and wonderful. Everyone is dealing with the aftermath of season 1. New characters are introduced immediately and at first, I wasn't sure but then Billy got out of the car. Mainly kidding but seeing Dacre Montgomery and Sean Astin I had high hopes for this season. I also felt that Sadie Sink as Max was a welcome addition to the group. None of the new characters pulled away from the original cast, in fact, I believe they added layers to them. Each of them did an incredible job.
The action and adventure scenes were amazing as was the CGI. The new creatures were just incredible and played their part perfectly. Trust Dustin to make a friend.
The major downside to this season was how long it took for everyone to get back together. I understand what they were trying to do with introducing another numbered character but seriously I felt it did nothing to move the story along. And honestly, the way everyone has a piece of the puzzle but it takes them so long to just communicate. I mean they went through hell the first season, why would you not reach out the second something was weird.
Major props to Noah Schnapp who just crushed it as Will suffering from PTSD and the new threat. There were several scenes where I truly felt heartbroken and scared for him on a deep level. I'll just say pumpkin patch and leave it at that. Truly horrific because he pulled it off so freaking well.
Best : Episode 9 - The Gate. Took far too long to have everyone back together but worth it.
Worst: Episode 7 - The Lost Sister. So much potential but lead to nothing.
Final Thoughts
The new characters did bring something to the table as well as the new creatures, yet I feel this season lost some of its mojo by not including Eleven with the group until the very end. Yes, it was an epic moment but then it was oh well, I guess we have to separate again and potentially go to our deaths. It still had the amazing 80's flare that we love and I was so happy to see everyone again. And once again the soundtrack is just fantastic.
7 out of 10. Recommend and worth watching but season one was better in my opinion.
Always Keep Fighting.
You Are Enough.
