Stranger Things Season 1 - Netflix Original Series

Genre: Fantasy, Drama, Horror, Science Fiction

Rating: TV 14 *If you want your kids to watch it you may want to check it out first to see if they can handle it.

Synopsis: When a young boy vanishes, a small town uncovers a mystery involving secret experiments, terrifying supernatural forces, and one strange little girl.

Right from the start, this show throws you into this small town, where something huge is happening. We're introduced to the main cast, Will, Mike, Dustin, and Lucas as they play a game of D&D. Within the first few scenes you understand that this show is not afraid to put the kids in danger and whatever is out there means business.

The 80's vibe is just perfect with the houses, cars, and even the small details like name brands of products that are in the background, etc. Clearly, the Duffer brothers knew what they wanted and went to great lengths to ensure everything was perfect. It is exactly how it should be. And the soundtrack matches each scene and makes you feel what you need to.

Season 1 has a total of 8 episodes, which definitely feels like not enough but the story carries itself with good timing and ensures that the finale completes the story it wanted in the time frame. When I watch it the first time I remember thinking that the next season could not come fast enough.

This TV show definitely gives off Goonies, Willow, and many other 80 action, adventure movies. All the actors did an incredible job yet clearly all the awards go to Milly Bobby Brown for her portrayal of Eleven. She really pulled you in early on and refused to let go. The other child actors crushed it as well and I expect great things from them. Of course, heavy hitters like Winona Ryder and David Harbour bring everything to the table and play each part beautifully.

Best: Episode One - Perfect way to introduce everyone and set up the rest of the series effortlessly.

Worst: Episode Five - Very little story progression but at least we get to see Eleven in action.

Final Thoughts

Season One definitely set the tone for this amazing 80s throwback with a new science fiction twist. The creature design is just amazing and just as creepy as you would hope. This series definitely set the tone for all future tv shows. This is how you make an amazing story-driven TV with characters that you care about.

9 out of 10. Highly recommend.

Always Keep Fighting.

You Are Enough.
