Kung Fu Panda 4 - 2024

Synopsis: Po must train a new warrior when he's chosen to become the spiritual leader of the Valley of Peace. However, when a powerful shape-shifting sorceress sets her eyes on his Staff of Wisdom, he suddenly realizes he will need some help. Teaming up with a quick-witted corsac fox, Po soon discovers that heroes can be found in the most unexpected places.

Since I consider Po, my spirit animal I had high hopes for the continued story and was intrigued to see where it would go. 

Though the story starts with promise it is sad to think that Po would lose his title, essentially ending the series. The cast still gave a great performance, and of course, Jack Black as Po is iconic. The new addition of Awkwafina as Zhen added some much-needed banter, heart, and comic relief since the Furious Five were absent this time around. 

The animation was great and they chose a good villain, however, the final battle was really the only good thing about the movie and even then it had its faults. The events that occurred turned very predictable, very quickly though smaller children may not catch on. 

Compared to the previous entries in the series it was easily the lowest rated as it seemed to try putting together too many storylines into one. Where the other movies made Po’s journey join with defeating a villain seamlessly this movie struggled to find its footing and, in my opinion, never caught up. 

Without spoilers there were aspects of the final battle that I feel helped the movie a lot. I could feel the previous movies trying to come through and it almost worked.

Final Thoughts

Honestly, I was sad about this one. The villain was fun and the final battle had its moments but overall, it did not help. The re-watchability for me on this one is nonexistent. 

Score: 5 out of 10. Recommend to watch once if you love the previous movies.

Cabinet of Curiosities - 2022 Netflix Original

  Genre:  Drama, Horror, Mystery Rating:  TV-MA Synopsis:  Bizarre nightmares unfold in eight tales of terror in a visually stunning, spine-tingling horror collection curated by Guillermo del Toro. As a huge fan of Guillermo del Toro, I had high hopes for this. The opening is visually stunning and the music reminds me of the nightmare before Christmas.  There are some huge stars present and regardless of the story, I personally think everyone did an incredible job showing each character. The problem with a collection of short stories, such as this, is you run into a time problem. Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous - Season 5 - Netflix Original

Genre: Animation, Action, Adventure, Family, Science Fiction Rating: TV PG Synopsis: Teens attending an adventure camp on the opposite side of Isla Nublar must band together to survive when dinosaurs wreak havoc on the island. Previous seasons do need to be watched to understand the relationships between the group and what they've been through so far.  If you've seen the Jurassic World movies, including the most recent it will add some missing details but it's not necessary to watch them before.  I would recommend watching the Jurassic World Dominion movie before the last episode so that some revelations during the show will make sense and will avoid spoilers if you haven't seen the movie.  Season 5 is the last season so it had high expectations to finish with a bang and wrap up any loose ends.
