***
When I first saw the trailer for this movie I was excited with a hint of apprehension as it could be either
really great or really bad. I am so happy it was the former.

The cast did a great job at bringing the story to life and each embraced their roles beautifully. Lucy Liu,
Dwayne Johnson, and Chris Evans all did amazing. J. K. Simmons as Santa Claus also did a great job,
but as you can imagine from the synopsis he is not in the movie runtime much.

Now, were they Oscar-winning performances? No, however, they made each situation feel as if you were
there and you really felt for their predicament. By the end, you are rooting for the good guys.
The storyline was simple enough, yet there was a different feel to it than the typical ‘feel good’
Christmas movie and I honestly think it was the action scenes. The fight scenes were awesome, as you
would expect from Johnson and Evans but they also had heart which added the Christmas magic. The
chemistry between the two male leads is something I want to see more of in the future.

Without giving out any spoilers the best characters for me had to be a toss-up between Chris’s Jack
O’Malley and Krampus, played by Kristofer Hivju. Where Chris brought the human element to the story
of the mythos, with his spot-on reactions to things, Kristofer brought the mythos to reality.

Kristofer just crushed this role and brought Krampus to life, fitting him seamlessly into the story without
feeling like they just added him for his name. Also, his design was an absolute chef’s kiss to the design
team.

Speaking of creatures, Krampus was not the only one that drew attention in the best way. You know I
geeked out about the Polar Bear, Agent Garcia, just from the trailer. Again no spoilers but you do get to
see a few nods to other beings that looked amazing and it introduced audiences to legends from other
countries that some may not be familiar with.

Final Thoughts

Overall I thought this movie included everything it needed to become a new holiday classic. Great
acting, amazing creatures, and a Christmas adventure.

Score: 8 out of 10. Will be owning this one.

Always Keep Fighting.

You Are Enough.
