Uncharted 2022
Genre: Action, adventure
Rating: PG-13 for violence/action and language
Synopsis: Street-smart Nathan Drake is recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor "Sully" Sullivan to recover a fortune amassed by Ferdinand Magellan, and lost 500 years ago by the House of Moncada.
As a family who loves the Uncharted video games this movie had a lot to live up to. The trailer looked promising and I personally was extremely excited.
Overall the movie is great. It has lots of funny, action-packed and heartwarming scenes. Sadly the name Uncharted just doesn't fit. It was an amazing action movie about lost treasure, which is great. The movie had a very similar feel to National Treasure and Indiana Jones so I'm not mad at it.
But the only similarity to Uncharted is that they used the names of the characters and had a cameo. The storyline was very close to one of the games but they ruined it by changing major parts. Without spoilers, one person who should have played key roles just wasn't in the movie at all.
I think that Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland did an amazing job with what they were given and I can see the start of an amazing duo in future movies. Sadly there were moments when Tom acted like Spiderman. Nathan Drake could not do some of the moves he showed off in the movie, even as a teen/young adult.
Final Thoughts
As I stated I really did think the movie was great. If you call it anything but Uncharted it is a decent, action-packed search for hidden treasure. With the name attached sadly it was a letdown. Since it was still a fun adventure I would consider buying it. It really was that fun.
I give this a 6 out of 10. Buyer Potential.
Always Keep Fighting.
You Are Enough.
