The Electric State - 2025 - Netflix Original

Image
Genre: Sci-fi, Adventure Rating:   PG-13 Synopsis: After a war between humans and machines, robots lost their freedom, people lost themselves in tech, and Michelle lost everyone she loved - or did she? *** Hearing about this movie I was very intrigued to see where it would go. The answer all over the place.  Right off the bat, the movie is visually beautiful and the fight sequences between everyone is just amazing.  Props to human characters played by Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, Ke Huy Quan, Stanley Tucci and Giancarlo Esposito. Each one brought their character to life in a very real way and performed perfectly against so much CGI. And while the characters were likeable, well the ones you were supposed to like, and you were cheering for the good guys, they could not help the writing or the storyline from crashing out in the final act. Without spoilers it is hard to discuss the storyline in more detail, but I will say that the storyline was very strange and t...

Netflix Original Back In Action - 2025

Genre: Action, Comedy Rating:   PG-13 Synopsis: Former CIA spies Emily and Matt are pulled back into espionage after their secret identities are exposed. *** Immediately upon watching the trailer for this movie, I could not help but compare it to the recent Mark Wahlberg movie with a similar plot called The Family Plan. However, I love both Cameron and Jamie so decided to give it a chance.  Being blunt I will say that this movie was hard not to compare to the other and was not as good in my opinion, though it is hard to go into too much detail without giving spoilers. I felt like this movie was not as natural and every potential joke was forced.  Thankfully, I will say that the fight scenes and the chemistry between Cameron and Jamie was great to watch. Sadly, I feel that the chemistry between the child actors and the adults are what drove a wedge into the story for me. That mixed with the jokes that just didn’t land right and the fact that the spies were just te...

Netflix Original The Witcher Sirens of the Deep - 2025

Genre: Adult Amination, TV Dramas, TV Shows Based on Books Rating:   TV-MA Synopsis:  A monster hunter, voiced by Doug Cockle (“The Witcher” video games), is hired to take down an undersea creature attacking the sailors of Bremervoord.  *** *Strobe Light Effect Warning* Right of the bat I had high hopes as it went straight into the action. Showcasing the beautiful and fluid animation as well as the great vocal actors for each respective character.  As the story progressed there were creatures of multiple kinds, all that look amazing and blend into their environments perfectly.  Sadly, then it took a turn for the worst. It started off so promising and then turned into an R rated version of the little mermaid including an eye rolling villain song. Very predictable towards the end and though the grand finale battle was awesome it was a little too late.  Final Thoughts This one was a huge let down. Once the comparison to the little mermaid came into it, ...
